Pines Earn Late 5-4 Win
|
The Maine Pines withstood an impressive performance by Toronto designated hitter Sam Salas to defeat the Trash Pandas, 5-4, at Oakhurst Field. Salas went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Maine reliever Chris Hames picked up the win, raising his record to 3-0. Alex Gomez was tagged with the loss. The loss drops Toronto to 15-8.
Maine took the lead, 5-4, on Tyler Tolbert's 5th home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off Toronto pitcher Alex Gomez in the bottom of the eighth.
Maine manager David Whigham called it "a darn good win."
