Mountaineers Lose to Cougars in Walk-Off
Ballpark of Greenup played host to some real drama.

The Cougars grabbed a win, 4-3, at Ballpark of Greenup, overcoming a fine effort from Winchester pitcher Gilberto Cortez. Cortez went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. The winner was Rohnert Park reliever Jason Ginty, now 2-0. The loser was Jonathan Powell.

The defining moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Rohnert Park. That's when Kyle Scherbel hit a solo home run off 26-year old left-handed pitcher Jonathan Powell to win the game. The home crowd went wild.

"The crowd was raucous," said Scherbel.

Rohnert Park, now 17-18, holds down 5th place in the Eastern AA Southen Division.
