Bears Topple Cougars, 4-1
|
Pitcher Pedro Benitez was sensational for the Traverse City Bears in his team's 4-1 triumph over the Rohnert Park Cougars. Benitez earned the win. Danny Arroyo recorded the save, his 2nd. The 4th-place Bears now have a record of 15-17.
The Cougars had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Bears going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 25-year old catcher Jonathan Grant came to the plate. Grant hit a 3-run home run on a 1-1 fastball from Rohnert Park hurler Tadeu Beles. It was Grant's 5th home run of the year.
"I just tried to make good contact," said Grant.
