Big Day for Riley in 7-4 Caribou Win
|
Mark Riley led the Vancouver Caribou to a nifty 7-4 win over the San Francisco Fire. The Vancouver right fielder, who is tied for 7th in the NC in total bases with 46, was a force of nature. He banged out 3 extra-base hits, including 2 home runs and 1 double. The winner in relief was Tom Thompson. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. He now owns a record of 2-1. Vancouver is now 12-10.
Had Brad Raska not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Raska hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Caribou.
Raska expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
