Streaking Rotters Win Another One, 8-2
|
The Riverside Rotters locked up a win at Rotters Ballpark, knocking off the Corpus Christi Mermen, 8-2. On the mound for Riverside was right-hander Jimmy Grams. He played a major role in the triumph. The winning pitcher was Grams, now 4-1. He tossed 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 10. Riverside is now 18-9.
Matt Douglas, who is tied for 6th in the E-AA in doubles with 6, contributed to the Riverside win with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the center fielder had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 runs batted in.
"I thought we played a nice game," Douglas told the Riverside Citizen. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
