The Mescalero Chiefs overcame a pretty good performance by Boise designated hitter Alex Mareno, beating the Dread Kings, 6-5, at Ballpark of Boise. Mareno was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Victor Luna went 5.1 innings for Mescalero to pick up the win. The left-hander was charged with 2 runs. He scattered 9 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 2. His record improves to 2-1. At 18-10, the Chiefs have played well so far.

Mescalero used a well-timed hit by Ronnie Riemenschneider to capture the win. The catcher socked a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Chiefs ahead, 3-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
