Cincinnati Falters Again, Loses, 7-2, to Indianapolis
|
Though the conditions were not ideal, the Indianapolis Eagles and Cincinnati Royals came back from a rain delay to finish their game.
Despite a great performance by Cincinnati left fielder Eric Hayes, the Indianapolis Eagles defeated the Royals by the score of 7-2 at Eagles Stadium. Hayes went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Paul Mitchell got the win, improving to 2-0. He held the Royals to 2 runs on 6 hits over 6.1 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 2.
Mike Dallis had a big bases-clearing double for the Eagles in the bottom of the first inning. With Indianapolis leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from former first round draft pick Josh Huggins and swatted a double to center. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Eagles ahead, 4-0.
"Chalk one up for the good guys," said Dallis. "I'm sure our fans enjoyed that win."
The win gives Indianapolis a record of 12-10.
