The Mescalero Chiefs picked up a win at Greensboro Grounds, knocking off the Traverse City Bears, 11-4. Starting pitcher Ted Kelly was a big reason why. Kelly got the win, improving to 1-3. He gave up 6 hits and walked 2 over 7.1 innings. He allowed 3 runs. Mescalero is now 13-16, while Traverse City is 11-18.

Trent Lovoi, who is tied for 2nd in the E-AA in total bases with 76, had a timely hit in the top of the fifth inning. With no one out and the bases loaded, the Mescalero third baseman hit a run-scoring single. That put the Chiefs in front, 4-3.

"Ted is one tough hombre," said Mescalero manager Hunter Santiago.
