Rucker Helps Traverse City Outscore Washington
|
The Traverse City Bears topped the Washington Wildthings by a score of 13-11. Leading the way was designated hitter Nick Rucker. Rucker went 3-5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 5 for the Bears. Chris Bentley locked down his 7th save. The Wildthings fall to 11-15 and continue their uneven start to the 2021 season.
Rucker contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Traverse City in the top of the fourth. With his team trailing 3-2, Rucker took a knuckleball from Jim Unknown and stroked the home run to right-center. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Bears to leap in front, 6-3.
"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Rucker.
