Mountaineers Earn Clutch Win, 3-2
|
Riding the 3-hit performance of the 22-year old center fielder John Hall, the Winchester Mountaineers stopped the Corpus Christi Mermen, 3-2, in 9 innings. The win went to Paul Mitchell in relief, making him now 2-0. Adam Johnson took the loss for Corpus Christi. With their winning streak at 5, the Mountaineers have raced to a strong start this season.
The game was all tied up in the bottom of the eighth, until Hall delivered big-time for Winchester, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Adam Johnson. The game-changing hit put the Mountaineers on top, 3-2.
"We're stringing together some nice wins," said Winchester manager Mitchell Young.
