The Winchester Mountaineers topped the Corpus Christi Mermen, 9-1, with third baseman Jason Lewis playing a big role. Lewis went 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4 for the Mountaineers in the win. Marty Capone picked up the win, improving his season record to 2-2. He struck out 6 in 6.2 innings. Corpus Christi now is 16-8.

Winchester took the lead on Lewis's 2nd home run of the season. The grand slam home run, which came against Sean Gary in the bottom of the sixth, made the score 5-1, Winchester.

"We didn't play well enough to win," said Corpus Christi skipper Arturo Colon.
