A good performance from right fielder Tim Cook helped the Washington Wildthings defeat the Corpus Christi Mermen, 10-7. Cook slugged 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 5 for the Wildthings. Caleb Mangum, now 2-0, was credited with the win in 2 innings of relief. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit, while striking out 2 and walking 1. The Wildthings, now 4-18, have not found much traction so far in 2026.

The game was all tied up in the top of the ninth, until Cook delivered big-time for Washington, stroking a dramatic grand slam home run off Josh Edwards. The game-changing hit put the Wildthings on top, 10-6.

"I'm trying to see the ball big, see the ball up in the zone and put the barrel on it," Cook told the Washington Citizen.
