Burchett Hits 2 Roundtrippers, Mountaineers Win, 7-3

The Winchester Mountaineers licked the Aurora Suns, 7-3. Ryan Burchett deserved a big chunk of the credit. The first baseman was 3-4 with 2 home runs and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2 for the Mountaineers. Jerome Abney earned the win, while 22-year old left-handed pitcher Gil Backos took the loss for Aurora. Now 10-3, the 2022 Mountaineers have been phenomenal so far.
Winchester used the hitting of John Lopez to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Mountaineers on top, 3-0. For the game, Lopez had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I think it just wasn't our night," said Aurora skipper Oscar Figeroa.
