Chiefs Win at Washington, 9-0
|
Getting offensive support from Keith Duke, the Mescalero Chiefs topped the Washington Wildthings, 9-0. Duke was 3 for 5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Chiefs. Jason Stoute earned the win to go to 2-0. He allowed no runs on 5 hits, with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work. The Wildthings, at 1-11, have stumbled out of the gate.
With Mescalero leading 1-0 in the top of the fourth, Duke hit a run-scoring single off Washington hurler Larry Bute. It was the 7th hit of the season for Duke and put his team ahead, 2-0.
"Every time you put a 'W' on the board is always good," said Duke.
