The Corpus Christi Mermen faced a tough opponent in Encinitas pitcher Perry Norman, but still scratched out a win at EBDBBNB Park by a final score of 1-0 in 12 innings. Norman went 6 innings and allowed no runs. The Eskimo Brothers drop to 5-6 and continue their inconsistent start to the 2026 season.

Jay Thibodeaux came through with a big-time hit for Corpus Christi. The right fielder smacked a solo home run in the top of the 12th inning to give his team the lead, 1-0. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"We're in a marathon, not a sprint," said Thibodeaux. "But I like how we're playing right now."
