Mermen Come Up Short at Encinitas, 4-3
The Encinitas Eskimo Brothers overcame a pretty good performance by Corpus Christi right fielder Jason Finch, beating the Mermen, 4-3, at EBDBBNB Park. Finch was 3-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The winner was Encinitas reliever Mark Moore, now 1-0. The loser was Charlie Hunter. Corpus Christi now is 7-2.

The Eskimo Brothers took advantage of an error in the bottom of the fourth inning. Encinitas was leading 2-0 when Brent Mallinson hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the Eskimo Brothers in front, 3-0.

"You need to show up when your number's called," said Mallinson.
