Getting a good performance from shortstop Gary Draeger, the Corpus Christi Mermen defeated the Encinitas Eskimo Brothers, 8-3. Draeger was 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Mermen. The Mermen raised their record to 7-1.

Salvador Morales helped out the Corpus Christi cause in the bottom of the sixth inning with a run-scoring ground out. For the game, the right fielder drove in one run.

"Today was a lot of fun," said Draeger.
