Reapers Beaten By Desperados, 5-2

The Austin Desperados picked up a win at Dell Diamond, dropping the Carolina Reapers, 5-2. Luke Scrimger, who finished 5th in the AC in ERA with 2.92 in 2021, was the difference-maker. Bob Baucke earned the save for Austin, his 3rd. The Reapers, now 7-14, continue their sluggish start.
Ruben Alamo had a big 2-run double for the Desperados in the bottom of the third inning. With Austin leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a slider from 28-year old right-handed pitcher Chase Lovett and swatted a double to left. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Desperados ahead, 3-0.
"I made some pitches when I had to," said Scrimger.
