Traverse City Gets 7-5 Win
|
The Traverse City Bears withstood an impressive performance by Rohnert Park catcher Gabe Allen to defeat the Cougars, 7-5, at Ballpark of Greenup. Allen went 4 for 4 with a home run and 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Kevin Gibbons got the win, improving to 2-1. He worked 7 innings, giving up 3 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 0. Jason Eppert nailed down his 4th save.
In the top of the third, Traverse City center fielder Shaun Poquette had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and two out, Poquette stroked a 2-run single to right. It made the score 5-1, Traverse City. For the game, he went 3 for 5 with 3 singles and a walk. He drove in 3 runs.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Poquette. "And not try to do too much."
The win puts Traverse City at 4-7.
