Scorpions Clip Fire, 5-4
|
Syracuse starter John Froerer pitched well against the San Francisco Fire at San Francisco Grounds. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-4, in 17 innings. Chris Dries nailed down the save. The win gives the Scorpions a record of 8-13.
The most important at-bat for Syracuse came in the top of the 17th inning, when second baseman Nate Volk stroked a first pitch curveball to center for a 2-run single, putting Syracuse up, 5-3.
"Took some scratching and clawing," said Volk. "But we got it done."
