Mata 3-for-3, Leads Scorpions to Win
|
The Syracuse Scorpions defeated the San Francisco Fire, 5-3, at San Francisco Grounds. Syracuse center fielder Jason Mata had a superb performance. He went 3-3 with a home run and a double. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. Chris Dries picked up the win with 7 innings of work. He allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 7. On the season, he is now 3-0. The Fire fall to 7-14 and continue their lackluster start in 2022.
Mata had a timely hit for Syracuse in the top of the seventh. With Syracuse trailing 3-2, he turned a 2-1 knuckle curve into a 3-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season, making it 5-3, Syracuse.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Mata. "And not try to do too much."
