Winchester Gets Riveting Walk-Off Win
The Winchester Mountaineers powered past the Washington Wildthings, 8-5, at Mountaineers Park. Billy Carroll slugged 3 home runs, while scoring 4 and driving in 6, to lead the charge. Steve Gryder picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Larry Bute suffered the loss. The win moves Winchester to a record of 2-0.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With one out, Carroll hit a fastball from Larry Bute for a 3-run home run. The Mountaineers, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"We fed off the energy of the crowd at the end," Carroll said.
