Dread Kings Drop Rotters, 2-1

The Boise Dread Kings earned a close win over the Riverside Rotters, thanks in part to Adam Matthews. The Boise right-hander played a key role in the 2-1 victory. The winner was Matthews. He threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Dan Woods. The win lifts Boise to a record of 2-0.
The Rotters had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Dread Kings going into the top of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old first baseman Chris Goldsmith came to the plate. Goldsmith hit a solo home run on a 2-1 curveball from Riverside hurler Dan Woods. It was Goldsmith's 2nd home run of the year.
"I found a nice groove out there," said Matthews.
