Opening day festivities have begun throughout the league. Fans of the Traverse City Bears were eager to watch Kevin Gibbons square off against Eric Zane of the visiting Mesa Razor Sharks. In the end, the Razor Sharks won the game, 6-3, with Eric Zane leading the way. The winning pitcher was Zane, now 1-0. He tossed 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 7.

Craig Williams cracked a home run off Kevin Gibbons in the top of the first. His 2-run blast put the Razor Sharks on top, 2-0. In all, Williams had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 5.

Mesa manager Danny Schexnayder called it "a darn good win."
