New York Squanders Big Game by Callahan
|
Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Toronto Trash Pandas and New York Nightmare.
The Toronto Trash Pandas had to overcome a big game from New York designated hitter Ben Callahan to leave Nightmare Stadium with a victory. And they did, winning, 6-3. Callahan hit 3 home runs. Toronto pitcher Winston Caballero got the win, upping his record to 2-3. John Way got the loss. David Johnson was credited with the save for Toronto, his 5th of the season.
The Trash Pandas got a big at-bat from right fielder Chris Marra. For the game, Marra was 1-5 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Toronto a 2-0 lead.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Toronto manager Matt Armijo.
Toronto, now 8-13, is off to a slow start.
