Boston Whistlers starter Jay Helm pitched a strong game against the San Diego Fleet at San Diego Stadium, leading the Whistlers to victory, 5-4. Sean Muzzy snagged the win in relief. He goes to 1-1 on the season. Brandon Williams suffered the loss. The Whistlers, now 15-6, have been red hot.

Boston took advantage of an error in the top of the ninth inning. The game was tied, 3-3, when Oliver Damon hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the Whistlers in front, 4-3.

"Jay gave us everything he had," said Boston manager Mike Plocher.
