Phillips Helps Carolina Cruise to 11-3 Win
The Carolina Reapers downed the Dallas Dragons, 11-3. The hitting star was first baseman Bobby Phillips. Phillips was 4-5 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 4 for the Reapers. Carolina reliever Mike Heustess got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Glenn Ward was tagged with the loss. Carolina, now 8-12, is off to a slow start.

Carolina used a well-timed hit by Bill Havey to capture the win. The second baseman socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the first inning to put the Reapers ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.

"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Havey told the Carolina News.
