The Daytona Beach Sea Turtles beat the Phoenix Gladiators, 4-2. Daytona Beach pitcher and Mérida, Mexico, native Antonio Sanchez led the way. The winning pitcher was Sanchez, now 3-1. He tossed 5.2 innings of 1-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 3. Jeff Adams locked down his 3rd save.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Russ Reinertsen? The Daytona Beach right fielder had a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning to put the Sea Turtles on top, 2-0. For the game, Reinertsen had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Reinertsen told the Daytona Beach Gazette.
The loss drops the Gladiators to 9-11.
