23ers Stumble, Lose to Royals
Behind the bravura of designated hitter Jerry Blake, the Cincinnati Royals topped the Fountain Hills 23ers by the score of 8-2. Blake was 3-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Royals. Early on, the Royals, at 15-4, have played an impressive brand of baseball.

Eric Hayes had a big 2-run double for the Royals in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Cincinnati leading 3-1 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a sinker from 24-year old left-handed pitcher Brian Gay and swatted a double to right. It was his 7th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Royals ahead, 5-1.

Said losing manager Efren Nieman: "At the end of the day, we've got to play better."
