Scorpions Beat San Francisco, 5-4
The Scorpions grabbed a win, 5-4, at San Francisco Grounds, overcoming a fine effort from San Francisco pitcher Tom Tchida. Tchida went 6.1 innings and allowed 3 runs. Ken Allbaugh closed out the game, earning his 6th save. The win lifts Syracuse to a record of 10-9.

Syracuse used the timely hitting of Tim Ferro to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Scorpions on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," Ferro said.
