Rankin Helps Cincinnati Bombard Detroit
A 7-RBI performance from catcher Mike Rankin, who is a seven-time All-Star, led the Cincinnati Royals to a win over the Detroit Giants, 15-4. Stuart Maness, the winning pitcher, is now 2-1. He went 5.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits, while fanning 2 and walking 2. Miguel Leon nailed down his 1st save.

Rankin had a key at-bat for Cincinnati in the top of the second. With the bases loaded, he hit a grand slam home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and gave Cincinnati an early 4-0 lead.

"I was just going up there trying to see good pitches, that was about it," said Rankin.
