5-2 Win for San Diego Over Dallas
|
The San Diego Fleet picked up a win at San Diego Stadium, topping the Dallas Dragons, 5-2. On the mound for San Diego was right-hander Brian Underwood. He played a principal role in the triumph. The save was credited to Brad Antol, his 3rd. The victory makes San Diego 10-8, as the team seeks a return to the playoffs in 2023.
The Dragons had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Fleet going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the former first round draft pick Jason Cox came to the plate. Cox hit a run-scoring double on a 1-1 fastball from Dallas hurler Emmanuel Mendoza. It was Cox's 7th double of the year.
"We've got great fans," said Cox. "I hope they got what they came for."
