Eagles Capture Close Win
|
Indianapolis pitcher John Hennig did his part in helping his team beat the Daytona Beach Sea Turtles, 4-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Justin Thompson, who finished 3rd in the AC in wins with 15 in 2023, was the winner in relief. His record is now 2-0. The losing pitcher was Brian Hennick. James Gibson finished to wrap up his 3rd save.
Victor Mendez, who is tied for 8th in the NC in bases on balls with 11, chipped in a solo home run for Indianapolis in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the third baseman had 3 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 singles, 1 run scored, and 1 RBI.
After the game, Indianapolis manager Pete DuBay applauded the team's effort. "We put some good AB's together," he said.
Daytona Beach, now 3-15, continues its dreadful start.
