The Maine Pines and Charleston Shiners put on a pitchers' duel.

The Maine Pines used a great performance from fireballing left-hander Matt Graham to beat the Charleston Shiners, 2-0, at Hannaford Dome. Graham yielded no runs over 5.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 9. His record improves to 3-1. Kevin Weber picked up the save for Maine, his 1st of the year.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Pines had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when shortstop Mel Hernandez hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Tony Casablanca and made the score 1-0, Pines. Hernandez was 1 for 3 with a walk.

"We have a lot of confidence in Matt," said Maine manager Chris Ware.

Maine is now 10-8.
