Gavin Propels Maine Offense in 12-3 Rout
The Maine Pines put together a convincing win at Leatherback Park, defeating the Daytona Beach Sea Turtles, 12-3. Ken Gavin was one of the hitting stars. He was 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for Maine. Justin Jemison, the winner, improved to 1-2. He held Daytona Beach to 2 runs on 3 hits over 7.2 innings, while racking up 8 strikeouts. The Sea Turtles, now 4-13, continue their slow start.

Early in the game, right fielder Tyler Tolbert had a 2-run double for Maine. It was his 3rd double of the season and put the Pines on top, 2-0.

"It's disappointing, but we have to move on," Daytona Beach manager Ken Bennett said: "You're going to have games like that."
