The Vancouver Caribou rode a solid performance from 25-year-old starting pitcher Nick Douglass to a win, beating the Austin Desperados, 11-2, at Mounties Field. Douglass, the winner, moves to 3-1. He threw 6 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 5 walks. The Desperados fall to 7-10 and continue their uninspiring start to the 2025 season.

Vancouver right fielder Mark Riley contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a circle change to right field for a 2-run single. It was his 17th hit of the season and put the Caribou ahead, 5-2.

"Obviously, you want to go out there and be good every time out," said Douglass. "I take the ball every day with the same mindset."
