The San Francisco Fire knocked off the Austin Desperados, 3-1, in National Conference action at Dell Diamond. San Francisco pitcher and Grand Island, Nebraska, native Pat Daughtry had an outstanding performance. In 6.1 innings, Daughtry surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. The win takes San Francisco to 10-7.
San Francisco used the hitting of Dan Brewer to pick up the win. The center fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Fire on top, 3-0. For the game, Brewer had 1 home run and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
"Pat is good at sticking to his strengths," said San Francisco manager Jim Clarke.
