Caribou 5-4 Winners Over Austin
|
The Vancouver Caribou defeated the Austin Desperados, 5-4, in part because of right fielder Gerardo Romero. Romero went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk. He scored 2 times for the Caribou. Jaden Mack, who went 6 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 8 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 7. His record now stands at 3-0. Jeff Cox got the save, the 7th for him this season.
Vancouver catcher Ray Branson contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two down, he hit a fastball to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 3rd hit of the season and put the Caribou ahead, 5-1.
Vancouver manager Pete Clark commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
The Desperados fall to 7-9 and continue their uneven start to the 2025 season.
