In a close game at Ahoy Park, the Fountain Hills 23ers edged the Tampa Bay Captains, 4-3. Fountain Hills designated hitter Corey Pope stood apart with his performance. He went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times. Mark Luby was the winner in relief. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Joe Bernard. The win puts Fountain Hills at 14-2.

Fountain Hills used the timely hitting of Josh Mahan to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the 23ers on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
