The Giants grabbed a win, 5-2, at Scorpion Stadium, overcoming a fine effort from Syracuse pitcher Jason Cox. Cox went 6.1 innings and allowed no runs. The win was credited to 24-year old left-handed pitcher Phil White in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Elijah Miller took the loss. Lee Maher closed it out for his 4th save.

Angelo Mejia, who finished 5th in the AC in doubles with 42 in 2022, helped out the Detroit cause in the top of the seventh inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the designated hitter was 1 for 3 with 2 walks.

Mejia said his team "played with focus and determination."

The loss drops Syracuse to 10-6.
