Detroit and Austin duked it out and the Giants came out victorious.

The Detroit Giants knocked off the Austin Desperados, 6-4, in American Conference action at Ballpark of Detroit. Detroit pitcher and Alvin, Texas, native Julian Bryant had an outstanding performance. Bryant got the win, improving to 1-0. He gave up 7 hits and walked 1 over 8 innings. He allowed 4 runs.

In the bottom of the third, Ruben Cabriales delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 2nd and 3rd, the Detroit designated hitter hit a 2-run single, putting the Giants in front, 6-4.

"Julian -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said Giants manager Blake Barber. "He was the key to us winning."

Detroit goes to 1-1.
