23ers Pick Up 3-2 Win Against Phoenix
|
Fountain Hills beat Phoenix on the strength of starting pitcher Curtis Gring's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 3-2. Fountain Hills pitcher Nate Worley got the win. He's now 1-0. Bob Rehm was tagged with the loss. The win puts Fountain Hills at 2-0.
Had Joe Tibbs not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Tibbs hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the 23ers.
Tibbs told a Fountain Hills Citizen reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
