The Halifax Heathens knocked off the Austin Desperados, 5-4, in American Conference action at Dell Diamond. Halifax pitcher and Conway, Arkansas, native Joe Hart had an outstanding performance. Picking up the save was Jeff Buck, his 2nd. With the win, Halifax climbs to 8-7.
Tied up with the Desperados in the top of the fifth inning, the Heathens got a boost from left fielder Gustavo Orozco. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, Orozco saw a 2-1 cutter from Joe McLaughlin and hit a 2-run single to break the stalemate and put Halifax on top, 4-2.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Austin manager Adam Ponder.
