Austin Bats Go Silent in 2-0 Loss
|
The Halifax Heathens withstood a fine game by Austin designated hitter Brent Hansen at Dell Diamond, to upend the Desperados, 2-0. Hansen threw 8.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Halifax starter Nick McGettigan was credited with the win after throwing 91 pitches over 5.1 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. The Heathens, now 10-5, have been red hot.
Bruce Richards, who is a three-time All-Star, chipped in a solo home run for Halifax in the top of the second. For the game, the catcher had 3 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 singles, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
Richards told the Halifax Times: "Sometimes the big stage is not big enough for me."
