Martinez Shines in 11-3 Detroit Win
The Detroit Giants pinned a convincing loss on the Philadelphia Marauders, 11-3, at Marauders Ballpark. Alex Martinez was a main factor in the win. He went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 doubles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4 for Detroit. Nick Turpen, the winner, is now 2-1. He struck out 7 and walked 2 over 7 innings, while allowing 3 runs on 6 hits. Detroit, at 12-3, is off to a blistering start.

With Detroit leading 5-3 in the top of the third, Martinez hit a slider from Sean Hill for a 2-run double. It was his 3rd double of the season and put the Giants ahead, 7-3.

"This kind of win will certainly make our fans happy," Martinez told the Detroit Times.
