Cortez Hammers 2 Homers in 11-4 Win
|
The Indianapolis Eagles defeated the Toronto Trash Pandas, 11-4, at Eagles Stadium. Indianapolis was led by 24-year old second baseman Henry Cortez, who hit 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 5. The Trash Pandas fall to 6-8 and continue their lackluster start to the 2023 season.
Victor Mendez had a big bases-clearing double for the Eagles in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Indianapolis trailing 3-2 and the bases loaded, he got a sinker from 30-year old right-handed pitcher Frank Sarabia and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Eagles ahead, 5-3.
"We're just going to try to build off this win," said Mendez.
