23ers Reel Off Another Win
|
Fountain Hills turned a fine outing from starter Albert Fabian into a victory over the New York Nightmare at Fountain Park. The final score was 4-2. Fabian got the win, improving to 2-0. He gave up 6 hits and walked 2 over 7.1 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Earning his 3rd save of the year was Wade McGonigle.
Tied up with the Nightmare in the bottom of the fourth inning, the 23ers got a boost from second baseman Jim Gavilanes. With the bases loaded, Gavilanes saw a 0-1 slider from Pat Hovhannisian and hit a 2-run single to break the stalemate and put Fountain Hills on top, 4-2.
"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Fabian. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."
At 12-2, the 2026 23ers have been excellent so far.
