Sea Turtles Stumble, Lose to Shiners
|
Charleston and Daytona Beach took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.
The Charleston Shiners polished off the Daytona Beach Sea Turtles by the score of 8-4. The largest share of the credit belonged to right fielder Marcos Villarreal. Villarreal was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Shiners. Charleston reliever Todd Thompson picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Chris Dake took the loss.
Jeremy Alfano's at-bat in the bottom of the seventh was significant, coming with runners on 1st and 2nd and the game tied, 4-4. The Charleston third baseman hit a run-scoring single off Chris Dake to put the Shiners up.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Villarreal. "And not try to do too much."
The Sea Turtles, now 3-11, continue their inauspicious start.
