Series Lead Cut to 1 for Halifax After 4-2 Loss
Andy Weatherholt was not about to watch an opponent celebrate a championship on his home field.

The left-hander pitched the Charleston Sea Dogs to victory at Ballpark of Charleston, staving off the Halifax Heathens, who remain one game away from a title. Weatherholt threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The win cuts the series deficit for the Sea Dogs to 3-1 in the best-of-7 series.

Juan Ortiz, who led the NC in hits with 208 in 2024, took Halifax hurler Dan Fischer deep in the bottom of the first. His 2-run home run put the Sea Dogs on top, 2-0. In all, Ortiz had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

Weatherholt attributed the win to his team's "steely resolve."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Ballpark of Charleston in Charleston.
