San Diego Pins 4-0 Loss on Mexico City
|
The San Diego Fleet got an exceptional performance from starter Takeji Takano, who silenced the Mexico City offense en route to a 4-0 shutout win in Game 2 of the Divisional Series. The Aztecs could never get a bead on the left-handed Takano, who threw 8.1 innings of shutout ball. The Fleet now hold a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-7 series.
Takano earned the win, going 8.1 strong innings for San Diego. The native of Ena, Japan, allowed just 2 hits, while striking out 7. Mexico City hitters did next to nothing against the left-hander.
"My gosh almighty, Takeji was tremendous," said San Diego manager Brian Burnett.
Game 3 is scheduled for Sunday at Gran Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.
