The Cincinnati Royals started the Divisional Series in dominant fashion, blowing out the host Charleston Sea Dogs at Ballpark of Charleston by a score of 10-2 and securing an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Royals second baseman Heath Sherlock went 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2.

Sherlock had a consequential at-bat in the top of the third for the Royals. Coming up with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Cincinnati trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run single.
