Almost There: Winchester On Cusp of World Series Triumph After 3-2 Win

The Winchester Mountaineers got a strong performance from pitcher Ben O'Halloran, who stymied the Cornwall offense en route to a 3-2 win in Game 4 of the World Series. The Royals could never get a bead on the right-handed O'Halloran, who threw 8.0 innings allowing 2 runs. The Mountaineers now hold a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 series.
Had Josh Botello not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Botello hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Mountaineers.
"Nice to be on top of the heap," said Mountaineers manager Mitchell Young.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at King George Park in Cornwall.
