Riding the 3-hit performance of center fielder Ryan Matthews, the Winchester Mountaineers stopped the visiting Cornwall Royals, 10-3, in Game 2 of the World Series. Matthews was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 and driving in 2 for the Mountaineers, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 0.

Josh Botello helped his team take an early lead with a 2-run home run. It came in the first inning, making the score 4-0, Mountaineers.

Winchester manager Mitchell Young was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys went out there and put good wood on the ball," he said.

The next game is set to be played for Monday, October 5th , 2026 at King George Park in Cornwall.
