Shamrocks Roll Past Wranglers, 6-1
The Shamrocks grabbed a win, 6-1, at Shamrocks Park, overcoming a fine effort from Newport News pitcher Alex Gonzales. Gonzales went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 run. David Hernandez, credited with the win in relief, is now 6-2. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3.1 innings. Matt Drayton, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 9th save.

Sikeston took a 3-1 lead on Nick Owens's 6th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Owens hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Newport News pitcher Jonathan Aubry visibly frustrated.

Said losing manager Chris Rice: "The at-bats, obviously, needed to be better."

Newport News has now lost 5 consecutive games.
