Giants Use Late Surge to Win
Good production from right fielder Chris Lutz helped the Detroit Giants topple the Boston Whistlers, 8-5. Lutz went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for the Giants. The winner was Detroit reliever Tony Gutierrez, now 1-0. The loser was Sean Muzzy. Getting the save was Lee Maher, his 1st.

With Detroit trailing 5-4 in the top of the ninth, Lutz hit a curveball from Sean Muzzy for a bases-clearing double. It was his 2nd double of the season and put the Giants ahead, 7-5.

"This is a great group to be a part of, and it's a big win for us," Lutz told the Detroit Today.

The win gives Detroit a record of 6-6.
