The Vail Tigercats got a great start from 37-year-old right-hander Jesus Howell, as Vail took the 5-4 win at Vail Grounds over the series-leading Hamilton Bulldogs. Howell threw 7.0 innings allowing 4 runs and helped Vail close their deficit to 2 games to 1 in the best-of-7 series.

Ken Hippler had a key at-bat with no one out in the bottom of the seventh for Vail. With the bases loaded and the Tigercats leading 4-3, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run.

"They say the first rule of the playoffs is to win the home games," Hippler said afterward. "It feels nice, but it is kind of what we were supposed to do."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Vail Grounds in Vail.
